“This week saw another two water pipe bursts on Helen Road in Strathavon,” he said.
Stewart said since 2011 he had been trying to get new pipes installed on Helen and Linden roads in Strathavon.
“I have been promised previously that the budget will be provided in the following financial year but the year comes and goes,” he added. “I have submitted a petition, raised the matter with senior management in Joburg Water on numerous occasions, as well as brought the matter to the attention of the MMC for infrastructure and services.”
Stewart said residents were exasperated about the frequency of water pipe bursts in the area.
“Residents in the area contribute a disproportionate percentage of rates to the city coffers,” added Stewart. “At the very least they can expect the fundamentals.”
