Ballyclare Drive to be completed in November
BRYANSTON - The Johannesburg Roads Agency has announced that reconstruction on Ballyclare Drive in Bryanston will be completed by the end of November this year.
Preparations have commenced on the bridge and there are visible traffic accommodation signs and humps on the stretch of road. Bertha Peters-Scheepers, the spokesperson for the roads agency said all the off-site preparations, including the manufacturing of pre-cast elements, has been finalised.
“On site work commenced on 3 November,” explained Peters-Scheepers. Vusi Sikhakane, the regional operations manager, said the signage, speed humps and traffic accommodation requirements were merely the preliminary stages of the project. He said residents and motorists in the area will see workers on site.
“Workers will be repairing potholes and developing the roads to accommodate motorists in their travels on the bridge,” he explained. Sikhakane also added that the overall idea for the Ballyclare Drive bridge is to change the shape of the bridge to make it safer for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who commute on that stretch of the road.
