Atholl residents concerned about massive pothole
ATHOLL - Residents have expressed concern over the occurrence of a pothole on one of the roads in the area. According to one resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, the problem allegedly began last week when a pothole emerged due to excessive use of the road.

“This road, located on Cedar Avenue, is used as an arterial road for motorists avoiding tolled roads and as a result, this pothole emerged,” he said.
The resident added that the pothole continued to grow to the point that it became a crater and resulted in motorists resorting to using the pavement as a way to avoid the pothole-riddled road.
Johannesburg Roads Agency confirmed that the issue had been brought to their attention, with Bertha Peters-Scheepers, operations manager for marketing and communications at the agency, confirming that there had been an inspection on the issue in Cedar Avenue.
“Upon inspection it was found that the issue [on] Cedar Ave is not a pothole but a large reinstatement, and patching is required [and] the agency team will immediately make the area safe for residents and road users to be followed by the necessary remedial work on the reinstatement,” she said.
Peters-Scheepers urged residents to continue with their engagement in the logging of issues and to report any road and storm water issues on any of their customer reporting platforms 0860 562 874/ hotline@jra.org.za / twitter@MyJra / or by downloading the free agency Find&Fix app to their Smartphones.
