“Our front gate has been opening mysteriously for the past week or so and each time a very suspicious white Nissan bakkie would be parked outside on the street,” explained Olivier. He said he last saw the bakkie parked on the street on 7 December.
“I ran outside to inspect the bakkie and it was once again parked outside and left unattended,” added Olivier. He said an onlooker told him a male with dreadlocks exited the vehicle and continued to walk down the street. “We believe he’s cloned the remotes of the gates in the area and is scouting the area for potential vulnerabilities,” said Olivier.
He said ADT security personnel arrived and found the man standing a few blocks away next to an electrical box. “When questioned, he suspiciously answered that he was waiting for a friend and quickly left the scene,” explained Olivier.
“I just want to warn Sandton residents about this, especially now that we are approaching the December holidays,” he said. “I want to urge everyone to be extra cautious regarding their security.”
Olivier has also reported his concerns to the Bramley police. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police, also warns Atholl residents to be extra vigilant when they leave and enter their places of residence.
