Coleraine Drive bridge finally open
RIVERCLUB - The Coleraine Drive bridge in Riverclub is officially opened to road users after its closure in March last year.
Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the Johannesburg Roads Agency said the bridge was officially opened on the morning of 19 January.
“As you are aware, the rains affected the roads agency’s asphalt surfacing of Coleraine Drive, which was all that still needed to be done on the project,” explained Peters-Scheepers. She said to provide a quality, long-lasting road surface, it was imperative that due process was followed.
She added that the roads agency had made every effort to get the road open, but the weather in December last year hampered the drying of the surface.
“The contractors even worked past the official builders closing date in an effort to try and surface the road, however the weather was not conducive to surfacing at that stage,” said Peters-Scheepers.
