Another Grayston Drive smash-and-grab

SANDTON - A 46-year-old woman had her handbag stolen in a smash-and-grab incident on Grayston Drive.

This following a series of other smash-and-grab incidents at the same place throughout last year. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the spokesperson of the Bramley police said the victim was travelling on the M1 North at about 6.45am. She off-ramped on Grayston Drive and stopped at the traffic lights.

“There were other cars in front of her and she was waiting for the robot to turn green,” explained Maphakela. “She saw an unknown male who came to the driver’s side as if he was just passing and suddenly she heard her right back window shatter.” He said the suspect grabbed her handbag which was positioned on the floor of the back seat.

“Put all your valuable goods in the boot,” said Maphakela. “Keep them out of site and make sure your doors and windows are closed.”

No arrest has been made.
