Buccleuch steering committee to improve community
BUCCLEUCH - Plans to improve the local community and create a more transparent residents' association were part of the agenda at the Buccleuch Steering Committee's recent meeting.

The committee hosted the meeting with residents to discuss pertinent issues affecting the local community.
Committee member, Andrew McMurray said the purpose of the meeting was to give feedback to the community about the strides made by the committee since its inception last year.
“The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the committee’s future plans regarding the improvement of Buccleuch,” he said.
He added that the committee was mandated with the task of creating a formal residents’ association, one that was representative, inclusive, transparent and accountable.
Other topics of discussion at the meeting included highlighting work done in the community such as clean-ups, the formation of a neighbourhood block-watch and addressing of service delivery issues among others. “Future plans of the committee include [hosting] social days, growing the block-watch database and creating unity within the Buccleuch community,” he said.
The meeting also saw various stakeholders present, including Ward 32 councillor Bongani Nkomo, and representatives from City Parks and Pikitup.
