VIDEO: Personal development leads to success
SANDTON - Non-profit organisation The Seed SA hosted a personal development session to groom and develop leaders who want to influence their communities and change their lives.

The three visionaries of the organisation, Huzlet Mabasa, Amasi Mwela and Jean-Pierre Greeff whom have used Sandton as their playground to meet and strategise ways to empower individuals through their organisation, were joined by business leaders and guest speakers Simryn De Jager and Joshua Ouma who addressed specific topics that aimed to assist individuals in developing themselves.
The participants of the sessions are expected to attend a total of four sessions throughout the year in which a session will take place after every 12 weeks. Mwela said the aim of the sessions is to work with a group and monitor the individuals’ development throughout the year.
Guests invited to attend the session listened to Mabasa speak about becoming a person of excellence. “Striving to be the best in what you do and striving to be exceptional in your performance is the pursuit of excellence,” explained Mabasa. “Excellence leads to success and will elevate you to the next step of your career.”
Greeff spoke about the importance of getting to know who you are before becoming who you want to be. “Connect your identity to a specific meaning,” said Greeff. He encouraged attendees of the session to find a way to use their abilities and strengths in their work. “Take the things you can do well and use them in your work to enable you to get to the next level of your career.”
De Jager addressed the topic of building personal wealth and Ouma addressed the importance of setting goals. “Think of investing your money as investing in you,” explained De Jager. She also spoke about the importance of paying attention to where your money goes and living within your means.
Ouma said, “Setting goals for your life can change the person you are. Goals give you focus and progress.” He spoke more about conceptualising your goals and designing your development as an individual around the goals you make. “When you make progress and achieve your goals, you aspire to achieve more,” he added.
