MORNINGSIDE - MORNINGSIDE resident, Cindy Sampson, did her community proud following her selection as a semi-finalist for South Africa's Bachelor and Bachelorette competition.

The 20-year-old BCom Law student placed in the top seven out of 100 entrants for the charity competition.

Sampson said she entered the competition because she saw it as a beneficial experience.

“I will learn a great deal about holding events and fundraisers, and I will be able to make a huge difference in the lives of the children who don’t have the same opportunities that I had,” she said.

She added that the competition mainly focused on encouraging contestants to take on the spirit of ubuntu, and to raise as much money as possible for one of the five charity organisations chosen for the competition.

The finalists will be announced on 27 June, and the winners selected on 7 November at a formal gala event.
