In an effort to collect 90 blankets for non-profit organisation and CEO SleepOut™ beneficiary Girls and Boys Town, the pupils forewent the opportunity to go home to warm beds and gathered in the school hall to spend the night.
The school was challenged to participate when one of its pupils, Tristan Chinnah, heard about the CEO SleepOut™ on the radio.
Spokesperson for Boys and Girls Town, Luyanda Majija said, “Not only did the pupils sleep in their school hall, but they also participated in activities aimed at teaching them the importance of philanthropy by having them share what they believed vulnerable children needed.”
The following morning, the pupils partook in more activities which included reflecting on their experiences and writing about them, which will be placed into a letter of hope delivered with each blanket donated.
Majija concluded, “Girls and Boys Town is delighted to have received support not only from over 240 CEOs, but also from young aspiring CEOs. They look forward to seeing more people become encouraged to lend a hand whenever they can.”
