Varsity College Sandton reaches out to the elderly

SANDTON - As part of their community outreach programme, Varsity College Sandton provided food parcels and spent a day with the elderly living at Rosettenville's Glenisk Old Age Home.

The college collected the contents for the parcels during a food drive where students, lecturers and staff members all participated in donating non-perishable items. At the end of the drive, each resident at the home received two grocery parcels.

In addition to this, the residents were treated to a three-course meal and enjoyed their time at Titolino’s Midrand restaurant as they dined and conversed with Miss Varsity College Sandton 2015, Nombuso Mbatha; Varsity College Sandton’s social responsibility organisation, VC Cares; as well as Varsity College Sandton staff.

Vasanthee Govender, student relations manager at Varsity College Sandton said, “After a long month of planning and hard work, this was a true accomplishment. Varsity College Sandton would like to thank all the students, staff members and Titolino’s Midrand who had a hand in making this initiative such a success.”
