Deputy chairperson of Samwu Justice Sera said, “This was just a process by Rand Water to delay the process. It is our right to strike.”
According to Sera, the union is demanding an 8% to 10% increase in wages for Samwu members who work for Rand Water.
“Rand Water will have to meet our demands because of the 3500 employees that we represent a significant number will strike.”
According to Sera, if a high number of workers strike water flow will be hampered across South Africa.
