Sandton CPF meeting hosted in Wendywood

WENDYWOOD – Newly-elected chairperson of the Sandton Community Policing Forum (CPF), Anthony Modena, was introduced to members of the CPF Sector 4 sub-forum.

The introduction took place at the forum’s recent meeting at the Christ Church in Wendywood.

Andrew McMurray, chairperson of the sub-forum thanked Modena for taking the time to attend the meeting, and former chairperson, Wendy Robertson, for her commitment and work she has done for the CPF during her tenure. Also discussed at the meeting was the sector commander’s report, with Captain Richard Semenya noting that crime within the sector had decreased.

He said he was happy with the Neighbourhood Watch in the sector, adding that it created visibility and reduced crime in the area.

“[We can only] hope it can spread to other suburbs and brings about a reduction in house break-ins and robberies,” he said.

There was also feedback from the chairperson, reports from the ward councillors, a presentation from Sandton police detectives and a report from the security companies that patrol the area.

The next meeting will take place on 22 September at Cesco’s in Kelvin.

Details: Sector van number 071 6756 106/7.
