UPDATE: Major League Gardens too big for venue
SANDTON – There was damage to the Innesfree Park infrastructure following the Major League Gardens social festival.

This according to City Parks spokesperson, Jenny Moodley, who added that there was non-compliance from the organisers regarding the number of visitors, as per their application. She said City Parks officials were present on the day to oversee compliance.
“Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo is currently awaiting a post event report to assess the challenges experienced,” added Moodley.“Unfortunately, towards the second half of the event the number of patrons started to increase, which resulted in the organisers and the City’s Joint Management Operations Committee having to remove fences to allow for ease of access.”
Moodley said a number of patrons assumed their cars had been stolen after Metro police towed away a number of illegally parked vehicles that were obstructing traffic.
“Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo officials also visited the site on Sunday [20 September] to ensure the clean-up operation had commenced in earnest,” said Moodley.
She added that there had been early indications that the event was not suitable for InnesFree Park due to limited parking and the high volume of visitors who prefer to purchase tickets at the gate. “The event organisers have been advised that a more suitable venue will be required for future events,” added Moodley.
