Rainfall expected over most of SA, Weather Services announces
JOBURG - Most South Africans can expect rainfall this week according a forecast by the South African Weather Service.
The rainfall is expected over central parts of the country which include North West, Gauteng, Free State, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal but no flooding is expected in any of these areas.
Forecaster, Bransby Bulo, explained that, in Gauteng, rainfall is expected to start tonight and set to continue through to tomorrow morning.
“We’re expecting a 60% chance of rain in the province, which is expected to last all the way through to Friday, but again, no flooding is expected,” he said.
A forecast for the province also indicated that heavy rainfall across parts of the province, with a watch alert cautioning residents to look out for adverse weather conditions.
The service added that it would continue to monitor the situation during the course of the week and issue a warning should the situation change.
Insurance companies, meanwhile, have urged residents to ensure their electronics are unplugged before leaving the house to avoid damage.
