With numerous housebreaking cases reported at local police stations, community members are urged to become more vigilant when at home or when leaving their property unattended.
Spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said, “Community members need to make sure that when watching TV or when at home, they lock their burglar doors and windows. By community members not exercising caution or vigilance, criminals will use the unlocked doors and open windows to gain access into their property.
“If you suspect any suspicious activity or suspect someone is about to commit a crime in your area or property, promptly contact your sector vehicles, police or 10111.”
Maphakela stressed that it is very important for the community to become more vigilant of their surroundings and what is happening in their neighbourhoods. “A united front by community members will help curb the act of crime in the area,” he concluded.
