UPDATE: Fire erupts in Sandton

SANDTON - A small fire erupted at Pinmill Farm on Katherine Street in Sandton.

UPDATE: This afternoon just after 1pm EMER-G-MED paramedics responded to reports of a structural fire at the ICASA head office on Katherine Drive, in Sandton.
Paramedics arrived alongside the fire department – who worked effortlessly to extinguish the blaze.
Five people sustained minor smoke inhalation related injuries. One person sustained more serious inhalation burns and was transported by EMER-G-MED to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
It’s believed that fortunately only two rooms in the building were well alight.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the relevant authorities.

INITIAL REPORT: A small fire erupted at Pinmill Farm in Sandton at around 1.30pm on 30 May.

Max Cohen, spokesperson from Emer-G-Med stated that the fire was minor and appears to have affected two rooms of the building.

He added that five people suffered from smoke inhalation and two patients were taken to nearby medical facilities to be treated.

City of Joburg Emergency Services were quick to respond and had the fire under control and extinguished within twenty minutes.

Cohen stated that the extent of the damage, as well as the cause of the fire could not be determined at the time of publishing.
