Five Hyde Park High School matrics took part in the IT Showcase and they spent the day at Roedean School displaying their software to the judges, who are respected IT experts and to other scholars who visited the school. Other schools that took part in the competition arrived from many of the private schools in Johannesburg.

Sam Hindson and Blake Denham went on to the top 10 and continued to be grilled by the judges. Denham came in first and won a laptop, a tablet and speakers. In addition, he received the prize for the most advanced code.

Hindson, who came in second, also won a laptop, a camera and speakers and received the prize for the best gaming app.

Hyde Park principal, Manolis Vogiatzis said, “I am so proud of our IT pupils and the fact that they secured both first and second place, shows that the standard of their teaching is of the highest level. They are two very capable pupils who have gone up against the best in their field and come through shining,” he said proudly.
