Following the recent report of a cellphone theft at the intersection of William Nicol Drive and Republic Road, another case has come to light.
On 2 November at about 5.50pm, a woman was held up in traffic at gunpoint and robbed of her cellphone, jewellery and the contents of her purse.
According to the victim, she was allegedly threatened with a firearm and the perpetrators removed the keys of her car and demanded her valuables or they would shoot her. “They took the phone, the cash out of my wallet and my engagement ring. When the traffic started to move they handed back the cashless wallet and car keys.” The victim stated that she was warned to drive away and not try anything funny.
The incident was initially reported at Randburg Police Station but was handed over to Sandton Police Station.
The victim said her belongings were out of sight, but her window was halfway down due to the heat.
