SANDTON – Local resident Rakesh Wahi takes his readers through a life filled with adventure, sacrifice and eventually, great success.
River Club resident and author, Rakesh Wahi, launched his new book, Be A Lion, Dare to dream and live fearlessly at the Four Seasons Hotel, Westcliff.
Wahi is an entrepreneur with a colourful past who has carved a highly successful career in the IT, telecoms, media and education sectors. He started his career in the Indian military, where he took part in numerous life-threatening missions, including high altitude warfare, and assisted in the construction of a research base in Antarctica.
“When I left the military, I had $500 to my name. It was a difficult decision to make, but with the support of my family, I have made a success of my life,” he said.
In his book, Wahi takes the reader back to his childhood in Delhi as the son of one of India’s most respected corporate executives, his early career in the military and his time on the frontiers of post-Soviet Russia and Dubai.
The author documents his journey through the world of corporate finance and private equity and recalls his path to success in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
One of the main focus points in the book is Wahi’s examination of the complex choices of making the right decision. He not only gives insight into the world of business, but also gives insight into the many problems facing people in the stressful corporate world of today.
