Sandton SPCA success
SANDTON – The Sandton SPCA has had a record number of adoptions with more than a 1 000 animals adopted this year.

The Sandton SPCA experienced a record number of adoptions this year and celebrated its highest success rate in five years.
With more than 1 000 animals finding new homes this year, Nick Smith, committee member and volunteer said, “The success is due to a team effort of management, committee and all the SPCA volunteers, including photographer Emma O’Brien capturing the personalities of the animals to use for promoting adoptions.”
The volunteers, apart from meeting every Saturday to interact with and walk the animals, have contributed to this record adoption.
Sue Brown of the SPCA said, “The volunteers also help assess how well dogs socialise with one another for re-homing as well as fundraising and networking for potential adoptions.”
The dog walking and training is headed by Teresa Guzman on the second Saturday of each month and Wilna Lamb manages the school community service programmes on the last Saturday of each month.
Despite the high adoption number, there are about 80 adorable cats and dogs which are still up for adoption and yearning for a new home.
