A murder suspect appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the alleged murder of a man at a pizza outlet in Morningside.
The incident occurred at about 3am on 9 January in the presence of several people, among them a senior government official said to be from a KwaZulu-Natal municipality.
It’s alleged the deceased who was with a girlfriend and a male friend, and the 37-year-old suspect who was with the official and two others became involved in a fracas at the outlet. This apparently, after the official had said she was farmiliar with the victim. When the victim said he did not know her, one of the official’s companions allegedly told the victim not to engage with the official which resulted in the quarrel.
The official is said to have fetched the suspect who had remained in their motor vehicle outside the outlet. The suspect joined in the fracas and shot at the victim as he fled the outlet resulting in his death. The suspect allegedly also shot the victim’s male friend in the neck and he is said to be in intensive care at a local hospital.
The suspect was remanded in custody pending a further appearance in court and the official and her companions will also appear after they were granted bai

According Werner Vermaak from ER24 paramedics were called to the scene early this morning. However, when they arrived they found that two patients were removed privately to Mediclinic Morningside. Our paramedics went to the hospital to assist. One person was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite the efforts of the doctors and paramedics, the man later succumbed to his injuries.
A second man was found with a gunshot wound to his head. He was in a critical condition and placed on life support. He was transported by ER24 from Mediclinic to a hospital in Johannesburg for further care. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. Police was on scene.

One person has been killed and another left critically injured following a shooting that took place at Andiccio24 in Sandton on the corner of Rivonia and South roads.
Constable David Mothapo, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station said, “Four people have been arrested following the shooting which left one person dead and another injured.
“The victims were at the pizza outlet when they were approached by an unknown man and woman. The male suspect started an argument with the victim and produced a firearm and started shooting.”

Mothapo said that an argument led to the fatal shooting and the suspects, two males and two females, fled the scene and were later arrested in Alexandra. “Two firearms were recovered.”
The suspects will be charged with murder and attempted murder.
