Ward 90 elections cancelled
SANDTON – Training for ward committee members will start once voting has been completed.
Ward committee elections for Ward 90, which were scheduled for 4 February, have been cancelled.
The reason for the cancellation is that there are 10 portfolios and 10 candidates, and seven candidates were elected unopposed to the portfolios they applied for.
This leaves three candidates, Ash Pagden, Julia Mabhena and Tlhatlogo Moeketsi, and three portfolios. The portfolios are economic development, community development 1 and community development 2.
Martin Williams, ward councillor for Ward 90, said, “I have been advised by the speaker’s office that these three candidates are also duly elected. The allocation of their portfolios is to be decided through discussion between them.”
