Bonnie and Clyde are looking for their forever home

BRYANSTON – A Bryanston teacher recently rescued two dogs and is looking to find them a good home.

A Bryanston teacher recently rescued two dogs in Roodepoort and is now looking to find them good homes.

Samantha Weyers picked up the two dogs, who she affectionately named Bonnie and Clyde, on the corner of Schutte and Mulder streets on 12 March.

According to Weyers, Bonnie was malnourished and under weight.

“They were both very dehydrated and had ticks and flees. I decided to help them even though our complex does not permit two medium-sized dogs,” said Weyers, who had to get special permission from the trustees.

“For the first three days, they slept a lot and Bonnie received five to six small meals per day for about two weeks. Clyde was in much better condition than Bonnie, but was still trying to nurse from her.”

Bonnie is a medium-sized mixed breed and is about two years old, while Clyde is about one years old.

Weyers said the dogs share a very close bond and both have very good temperaments with people, are friendly and house trained.

“My family and I put up posters at vets and shopping centres in an attempt to find their owners or a good home, but we have been unsuccessful.”

Both dogs have been sterilised, vaccinated, dewormed and micro-chipped.

“Paws R Us assisted and took them in but they were very stressed in the kennel. At the moment both Bonnie and Clyde are in good condition and it would be very sad if they have to go back into a kennel. I am still hoping to find them a loving forever family together.”

Bonnie seeks a family to adopt her and one that will give her lots of love.
