The Parkmore Community Association (PCA) was recently awarded the tender for the historic Driefontein Farmhouse that was built in 1906.
The association has many big plans in store for the old farmhouse that has been standing empty for about 20 years, according to Kate Wardle, chairperson of the PCA.
“We are very excited that we will be the caretakers of this amazing heritage site, an original farmhouse from 1906 and home to a long established Parkmore family.”
Wardle said the main plans for the house will be to set up flexible work spaces and conference facilities, improving and maintaining the garden and also house the PCA team as its base of operations.
She said they will host historical talks and the main reception room will house old photographs, maps and drawings of the area’s structures and landscapes.

The PCA is inviting community members to join them in preserving this heritage site by getting involved and giving some of their spare time.
They are in need of a plumber and help with the gardening.
Join the PCA team on 2 September at 10am at the Driefontein Farmhouse to visit the house and learn more.
