Woman arrested on charges of perjury

SANDTON – A woman recently appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on charges of perjury.

A 21-year-old Zimbabwean woman was arrested by Sandton detectives at her place of work on 30 December on charges of perjury.

The suspect worked as a call operator at a delivery business in Sandown.
Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, said the woman reported a business break-in to the police on 24 December and claimed that items with an estimated value of R12 118 were stolen.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that she was allegedly involved in the break-in. Two other [suspects] are also involved in the incident but [have not been] arrested yet,” said Meyer.

He added that the stolen items included five tablets, a Lenovo laptop, two cash boxes and a credit card.

The suspect has since appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on charges of perjury.
