Valentine’s Day sunflowers to display for a lifetime for the one you love

BRYANSTON – The Bryanston East Community Forum invite you to support your suburb and show kindness toward the one you love this Valentine's Day by purchasing a sunflower.

If you’re struggling to find a Valentine’s Day gift for the one you love, the Bryanston East Community Forum have a unique and lasting gift to help show your affection.

Chairperson of the forum, Ian Tumiel is selling handcrafted metal sunflowers to members of the community which will be put up on the bollards along Hans Crescent.

The colourful creations will feature your name and the name of the one you love and help bring life to the crescent.

The Valentine’s drive was created by the forum to help them raise funds to complete the installation of bollards along Hans Crescent in order to prevent illegal dumping in the area.

According to Tumiel, the funds raised through this drive will also help them to replace ageing lawn equipment and build a bridge to alleviate traffic congestion for users to cross the feeder stream near the corner of College and Devonshire roads.

“The bollards will help build community spirit, keep the suburb beautiful and raise funds to keep open areas accessible and enjoyable for walkers, runners and cyclists. Feedback from the community policing forum and ward councillor is that well-maintained public areas lead to a reduction in crime and illegal activities such as illegal dumping,” said Tumiel.

Jen and Alan Bedford-Shaw support the Bryanston East Community Forum and display their love through this sunflower drive in Hans Crescent.

In support of the drive, Jackson’s Real Food Market has offered to sell the flowers at their Valentine’s Day dinner. In addition, the market is also donating R70 towards the drive from every couple who book their dinner at the market on Valentine’s Day.

Details: It costs R250 per sunflower. To buy yours, visit www.becf.co.za
