Police were involved in a shootout with an unknown number of men who were allegedly involved in a cash in transit heist.
The heist, which took place in Sandton, led to a chase between police and the suspects. The suspects, driving an Audi and a Ford, made their way from Kempton Park, through Alexandra and headed towards Sandton.
The chase resulted in a shootout between police and the suspects as they travelled through Marlboro towards Rivonia Road. The suspects, however, got away.
Captain Kay Makhubela told the Sandton Chronicle that one police officer was shot in the arm but is okay, while they believe one of the suspects might have been injured. Makhubela urged anyone with information on the incident to report it to the police.
