A Bramley detective has secured a good conviction in a robbery case he was investigating.
According to the spokesperson for Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi, the good work by the investigating detective saw the case finalised within three months of being on the court roll.
France Ramakhokha appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court where he was found guilty of armed robbery. He was sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment with no option of a fine.
Mogodi explained that the crime was committed in March this year. The complainant was at her residential place in Marlboro South, north of Alexandra. She was ambushed by Ramakhokha who produced a firearm, threatened her and demanded money.
“The victim then gave him money and he walked away,” said Mogodi.
The case was opened and it was assigned to Detective Constable Rifos Baloyi to investigate.
“Baloyi worked tirelessly and managed to trace and arrest the accused a few days after the crime was committed,” Mogodi added.
Bramley Police Station Commander Colonel Owen King commended the detective for the good investigative work done on the case.
