Johannesburg Water recently imposed water restrictions of 30 per cent to multiple areas supplied by Rand Water’s Palmiet system.
On 8 December it was announced on their social media platforms that, “Rand Water Palmiet System is critically low, with Klipriviersberg reservoirs below 20 per cent. We have some electrical problems at Palmiet pump station,” the statement read.

It continued to add that they have no option but to intensify restrictions and it will impact on Johannesburg South, East, Sandton and Midrand customers.
The following Rand Water meters have been restricted by 30 percent:
- Allandale
- President Park Reservoir
- Halfway House South
- Diepsloot Town
- South Hills Water Tower
- Abbatoir & Market
- Sandton No 1 and 2
- Kelvin Emergency East
- Malvern East
- North East Areas
- Linksfield Ridge Reservoir
