Check out these must-see places for a great night out in the city this festive season:
- Kitchener’s Carvery Bar
Located on 71 Juta Street in Braamfontein, Kitchener’s is over 100 years old and has an old-fashioned bar and atmosphere. Joburg’s cool kids and old heads frequent the bar for a taste of their favourite brew and to dance to progressive music, a Kitchener’s staple.
The bar is open every day from 10 am to 2 am.
- Randlord’s
Randlords is an exclusive rooftop bar and lounge venue, located on the 22nd floor of South Point Towers 41 De Korte Street. Perfectly perched at the highest point in Braamfontein, Randlord’s does not only entertain its guest long past the sunset hour but also has great food on offer from their Paris-trained executive chef.
Randlord’s closes at 1 am daily.
- Love Revo Cafe
This is a cool place to hang out in Maboneng, right on the corner of 299 Fox street. Love Revo doubles as a laid-back meeting point for locals and tourists alike. It’s a very cool place with an open-air bar and rooftop seating – always blasting ambient music in the background. There’s a bike club out front for all interested in cycling the city.
Love Revo Café is open from 11 am to 10:30 pm during the week and 24 hours on weekends.
- Shakers Cocktail Bar
If you’re looking for a serious jam-packed good time, then look no further than Shakers Cocktail Bar. Shakers is known for its great vibe, great music, and great cocktails – especially on Sundays. Located at 300 Commissioner Street in Jeppestown, shakers always shakes up Maboneng and its surrounds. Just come early because it does get packed!
Shakers is open from 12 pm to 2 am every day.
- Once in Joburg
Known as a ‘Poshtel’, a combination of the words posh and hostel, Once in Joburg is a relatively new establishment in Braamfontein and is a great place to stay for city travelers and crashers. After a great night in the surrounding bars and restaurants, head on over and catch some Zs over at Once in Joburg at 90 De Korte Street.
