Joburg Water and JRA fast-tracking reinstatement of road surfaces

JOHANNESBURG – Joburg Water and the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) are closing in on eradicating road works reinstatement backlogs.

The MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Nico de Jager has promised that Joburg Water and the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) are working hard to speed up the process of reinstatements of road surfaces.

“A task team has been assigned to deal with all the outstanding issues, including the technical issue at the source. This task team will generate and submit a report to the JRA within the coming week,” said De Jager.

“To further assist with attending to this backlog, Joburg Water will also make use of JRA’s road surfacing contractors, who will be utilised for the reinstatement work requirements across the city.”

According to De Jager, Joburg Water has issued the list of outstanding wayleaves and work orders to JRA.

“To date, over 700 wayleaves and work orders of 2 200 have been confirmed. We apologise for the inconvenience caused as a result of these technical challenges, but assure residents that this is receiving our full attention.”
