Two hit and run accidents in one day for Fourways
FOURWAYS – A young man involved in a hit-and-run accident on Witkoppen Road has passed on.
In the space of one day, there have reportedly been two incidents in Fourways.
It is alleged that in the first accident a cyclist was hit by a taxi driver who was driving in the yellow line on Witkoppen Road.
Thompson’s security group alongside Emer-G-Med were the first to get to the scene when the first accident happened.
The spokesperson for Emer-G-Med said, “We received an emergency call regarding a man who was in a bicycle and was hit by a taxi driver. We then dispatched all emergency services to assist with the situation. The other car had sped off when we arrived. Upon arrival, the man was still alive but in a critical condition. After resuscitating him for a while, he was declared dead at the scene.”
The suspect involved in the hit-and-run was later arrested by the South African Police Service. The Johannesburg Metro Police department was then handed the case for further investigation.
In the second accident, which occurred on the Rivonia off-ramp, a Black SUV allegedly drove into a white Suzuki Swift that was being driven by a male believed to be in his mid-twenties who allegedly fled the scene.
Not much is known about the second incident but it is being looked into by the local authorities.
