Staff at Region E Customer Service Centre host their own cleanup in Sandton

SANDTON – Staff took time out of their day to help clean up the environment around their office.

Staff from the City of Johannesburg’s Region E Customer Service Centre took some time out of their day to clean up their work environment in Sandton.

Each month, the city runs the A Re Sebetseng programme to encourage citizens to take pride in their community and help keep it clean. Phindi Lethoko, the regional coordinator for A Re Sebetseng explained that the City of Johannesburg also holds their own A Re Sebetseng clean-ups once a month.

Lethoko said, “It’s important for us to lead by example. We want our community to see the importance of having a clean environment and working with the city to help clean up.”

Staff members from the Region E offices, with the help of staff from Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo and Pikitup, helped clean up the area around Daisy Street and Grayston Drive. The Johannesburg Metro Police Department was also present to conduct vehicle inspections.

Lethoko said that the staff clean-up really focuses on the work environment and keeping it clean and she hopes that this will encourage others to take some time out of their day to help clean up their environment.

While not every clean-up will involve other entities, Lethoko said that she was glad that Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo and Pikitup could help cut down overgrown branches and clean bins around the area.
