Happy results for Rivonia resident

RIVONIA – A happy Karthikeyan Venkataraman reports back to Sandton Chronicle after significant improvements in traffic on 12th Avenue, Rivonia.

Rivonia resident Karthikeyan Venkataraman writes to Sandton Chronicle following the publication of Speed woes continue, Week ending 1 March:

I am very happy to share with you that your front page article on the traffic woes on 12th Avenue has resulted in extremely quick and effective action by the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA). There are now stop-signs at two intersections, traffic lights are being constructed and a no-stop zone at a third intersection. I think this is an amazing testimony to the power of community media and how it can prompt positive actions among stakeholders. I was also wondering if you would consider doing a follow-up article to show your readers that in spite of constraints JRA faces, there are people there who listen and act. In the follow-up article, a JRA official could be invited to come to the intersection. How cool would that be and what an uplifting message it would send to your readers?
