A shootout between law enforcement and suspects ended at a garage on William Nicol Drive in Bryanston on 12 June.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and Community Active Protection (CAP) pursued a white Range Rover used as a getaway vehicle during a theft of a motor vehicle in Melrose.
According to Randburg police’s spokesperson Captain Maja Makgowanyana, “Suspects and law enforcement exchanged fire. The vehicle came to a halt at the garage parking where all five were arrested. One firearm was seized on the scene.”
One of the five suspects were shot and taken to hospital under police guard.
One of the suspects escaped using another vehicle.
Traffic has been heavily affected.
