
Grade 5 Sandhurst Preparatory College learners Bailey Selvam is one of eight girls selected for the girls U12 South African tennis team who will go on a tennis tour next year.
With the encouragement of her mother, the aspiring grand slam player has been playing tennis since the age of four. “I’m committed to the sport and play five days a week,” she smiled.
Bailey previously won a U10 singles and doubles tournaments as well as a U12 doubles tournament. “I would love to be a professional tennis pro and play on the courts of Wimbledon.”
According to school principal Dr Robert Looyen, Bailey the school fully supports her journey, “Bailey’s dedication and perseverance has resulted in her achieving many tennis accolades. Sandhurst is extremely proud of you [Bailey].”
