Park fundraiser to raise cancer awareness

MORNINGSIDE – Join in on the fun at Ernst Ullman Park this Saturday for a cancer awareness fundraiser.

 


Bring along your family and friends and join charity-driven group, DFS, at Ernest Ullman Park on 2 November for its Cancer Awareness Fundraiser.

The group currently provides Zumba fitness classes in the Midrand, Sunninghill and Kyalami areas.

“We are extremely passionate about using the power of dance to help uplift other women as well as to help the less fortunate,” said the group’s Petalia Pillay. The event’s benefactors are Cancervive and Pink Drive, two organisations well known for their support and drive for cancer awareness.

Entrance to the event is completely free. Attendees can look forward to an array of activities which will run from 9am to 4.30pm.

These include:

  • Free Zumba class from 9am
  • Free yoga class from 10am
  • Free self-defence class from 11am
  • Cancer awareness talk by Cancervive from 12am
  • Free breast screening by Pink Drive from 11am to 2pm
  • A market allowing small local businesses the opportunity to showcase their offerings from 9am to 4pm
  • Free health screening for Discovery medical aid members (Vitality members can earn 1 000 Vitality points)
  • Rugby World Cup screening in the TSC clubhouse
  •  Live music.

“There is something for everybody so bring the family along and join us at a fun-filled day. Remember you can help us raise funds by participating in our raffles or by making a donation on the day,” Pillay added.

Please note:

  • No alcohol, drinks or weapons will be permitted into the premises.
  • Please carry a yoga mat if you are attending the class.
  • Not all stalls have card facilities.
