According to a Facebook post by Chief of the JMPD, David Tembe, while patrolling on the N3 South and Marlboro Drive, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department Special Patrol Unit officers stopped a driver of a Maroon Renault Megane driving while talking on his cell phone.
The officers pulled him over and approached the driver, continued Tembe in a Facebook post.
“They then requested to see his driving licence. As the officer was talking to the driver he got a whiff of a strong smell of dagga and requested to search the vehicle,” said Tembe.
Tembe added that as they searched the vehicle, they came across a plastic bag of dagga, a firearm and illegal ammunition.
“When asked for the licence of the firearm and ammunition, he said he had no licence for either. He was then arrested for the possession of an illegal firearm, live ammunition and dagga.”
