Leap into 2020
SANDTON – Sandton Chronicle editor, Ashtyn Mackenzie reflects on the previous year and plans for 2020.
The Sandton Chronicle editor, Ashtyn Mackenzie writes:
We bid 2019 goodbye and welcome in, with open arms, 366 days of opportunity 2020 has to offer us. I hope this leap year, along with an extra day, ushers in extra chances to be kind, strong and adventurous.
I must admit, my favourite time of the year is when the streets of Sandton are quiet. Schools are still on holiday, businesses are closed and the roads are blissfully calm. Not only does it cut my travel time in half, but it also affords me (and you) a couple of extra minutes to truly embrace the beauty of our community.
The team at the Sandton Chronicle, just like every year, is dedicated to you, our readers. Our promise is to continue to deliver news to your front door that affects you. Last year, we celebrated 50 years of Sandton in the #SandtonTurns50 feature which, if you missed it, is still available for you to devour the rich history of your community online at www.sandtonchronicle.co.za
Something I find inspiring about our diverse community is that come rain or shine, we all stand together – from the luscious suburbs to the buzzing metropolis of Sandhurst (Sandton’s CBD). I urge you all this year to continue to build a stronger community by becoming active citizens. Community Policing Forums, Victim Support groups and park clean-ups are always on the look-out for volunteers. Not only are you offered the opportunity to get to know your neighbours but you are actively helping your fellow citizens.
Let’s leap into 2020 with hope and passion, akin to driving around Sandton with no traffic.
