Executive Mayor, Councillor Geoff Makhubo committed to making the roads in the city world-class
MARLBORO – Mayor Makhubo said that they want to make the roads in the city world-class roads.

Today (5 February), the Executive Mayor, Geoff Makhubo was at Marlboro where he was joined by MMC for Transport Nonhlanhla Helen Makhuba in repairing the potholes in Joburg.
The City of Joburg said that today it was the official launch of the 60-days action plan which started on 28 January and will be completed on 28 March 2020. The campaign is said to be aimed at addressing the pothole repair backlog across the City of Joburg.

Mayor Makhubo said that they want to make the roads in the city, world-class roads. “We are going to win this war against potholes and work together. From Midrand to Ivory park, it will be clean. The whole landscape of Johannesburg will be clean.”

The City explained that potholes are caused when there is water getting into the structural layer and washing out particles of rock, which then causes localised collapsing of the structural layer.
