St Patrick’s Day comes to Morningside

MORNINGSIDE – Morningside Country Club ring in St Patrick's Day celebrations with a big bowl of potjiekos.

There is nothing like a little competitive fun and a good pot of potjie.

The community came together to enjoy a day of fun as Morningside Country Club joined in on the St Patrick’s Day cheer on 14 March.

The traditional Irish celebration, known as the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a global cultural and religious occasion held on 17 March each year.

The vibrant atmosphere in Morningside was filled with music, laughter and a little competitive edge as teams battled it out to create the perfect pot of potjie food. The potjie competition is one of the club’s most anticipated traditions where members are not afraid to get their hands dirty.

Special guests, Jeppe Pipe Band, paraded on the field playing traditional Irish and Scottish renditions. The band is currently raising money for a nationwide tour.
