Covid-19 cases in Joburg’s northern suburbs increase by 8
SANDTON – Gauteng Premier David Makhura hopes that the number of new cases will continue to slow down.
The City of Johannesburg’s northern suburbs in Region B and E recorded a combined increase of eight confirmed cases of Covid-19 as on 7 May.
Region B recorded three additional cases while Region E recorded an increase of five.
In its district breakdown, the Gauteng Department of Health reported that the city was sitting at a total of 1009 cases; it has recorded 770 recoveries while 97 remain unallocated.

At a screening and testing in Diepsloot, Gauteng Premier David Makhura said that the public need to ensure that the number remains low.
“Covid-19 cases has been slowed down in Gauteng and that needs to been sustained. The people should ensure that the numbers remain like that,” said the premier.
Region B, which includes Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North, now stands at a total of 161 cases.
Region E, which includes Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton, now stands at a total of 270.
