I am absolutely sick to death of what goes on in this country.
I see this on a daily basis but recently it annoyed me so much. When I asked a security guard at Hyde Park Corner why he allowed a police bakkie to park in a disabled parking, he told me it was an emergency. When I came out of the centre almost two hours later, it was still parked there – some emergency.
I am so tired of these people being hypocritical when it comes to following the law.
Michael Wilson, marketing manager for Hyde Park Corner responds:
The police arrived at the centre at 2.45pm in response to a shoplifting incident that occurred at one of the stores.
Centre security asked the police to park elsewhere, however they used their authority and said it was an emergency. The police vehicle was seen on CCTV leaving at 3.35pm (50 minutes later).
Hyde Park Corner management has taken this issue up with Lieutenant Colonel Tau who said it was unacceptable for the police to park in a disabled bay even in a case of an emergency and will be addressing his staff in this regard.
Centre security continuously monitor the disabled parking bays to try ensure that they are not misused.
