The William Nicol Drive and Republic Road intersection is extremely busy.
On Friday afternoon I witnessed one of those moments which can lift the gloom of our daily ‘bad news.’ The robots were not functioning and two young men (I assume vendors or beggars) jumped into the intersection which was heavily congested and, for the next four hours they directed traffic like traffic cops.
The question begs asking – where were the Metro police? These chaps smiled their way through a potentially dangerous situation and the number of encouraging hoots and ‘thumbs-up’ bear testimony to the appreciation of the motorists. I hope to see them again so I can make a donation to two patriotic young men! Every now and then …
