Nothing can stop this St David’s paddler

SANDTON – CSA spokesperson, Jennie Dallas, said paddlers of all ages from across the country participated in the challenge.

St David’s Marist Inanda paddler, Jess Webber, found a creative way to keep fit during the lockdown.

While dreaming of an open dam, Jess took part in Canoe South Africa’s (CSA) Covid-19 Fundraising Challenge in a bid to raise funds for vulnerable paddlers across the country. He dedicated his contribution to all the guppy paddlers (12 years and under) who need all the support during this challenging time.

The Parkview resident is currently the top Gauteng U12 guppy, and a member of the Dabulamanzi Canoe Club and St David’s canoeing teams. According to CSA spokesperson, Jennie Dallas, paddlers of all ages from across the country participated in the challenge.

“[The] fundraising challenge will help to purchase food hampers for the underprivileged families throughout the country who are known as competitors in the sport and have been part of the Community Youth Development program, which was started some 20 years ago at various clubs throughout South Africa,” she said.

Indoor cycling, rowing, canoeing ergo, push-ups, sit-ups, and various other exercise challenges took place virtually on 25 April, and numbers of food hampers and vouchers have been distributed throughout the country, thanks to those who made the effort.
