The two riders from Team Absa tackled the world’s toughest mountain bike stage race. Team Absa is an integral part of Absa’s Cape Epic sponsorship and Zulu and Mboya are a part of ambassadors who were nominated to represent Absa at the race and drive the bank’s charity initiatives.
Zulu is popularly known as ‘The Fastest Brother in Africa’ and he is celebrated as one of the top black racing drivers.
This is his second attempt at the Cape Epic with his partner and long-time friend, Hlubi Mboya. Zulu has also shone off the track as a presenter of Car Torque and a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Mboya is the only female rider on Team Absa and rode the Epic for the first time. She has become an inspiration to woman across the country.
She took on the challenge of the Cape Epic not only because of her own adventurous spirit but because she wants to show all South African youth that anything is possible. This follows her Mount Kilimanjaro journey in 2013 and she hopes that achievement will spur her on to tackle another mountain in years to come.
