School league canoe races back again

EMMARENTIA DAM – Pupils of St David's Marist Inanda gave an impressive showing at the Gauteng Canoe Union School League 2016 races.

 

The league commenced on 31 January at the Dabulamanzi Canoe Club located at the Emmarentia Dam, and saw paddlers compete in 1 000m and 2 000m races.

Theo Dreyer, Luke Wilson, Connor Erwee and Connor Davis were some of the pupils of St David’s who competed in both races and all managed to place in the top five in their respective categories.

Dreyer placed first overall in the U10 category while Wilson managed second place overall in the U8 category. Erwee came in second overall in the U14 category and Davis placed fifth overall in the U18 category.

The next league competition will take place on 27 February in Germiston.

The schools league is open to youth between the ages of eight and 18, and participants earn points towards gaining their Gauteng Junior Colours and for their schools.
