UJ impresses at Central Gauteng athletics champs
GERMISTON – University of Johannesburg athletes impressed with their performance at the recent Central Gauteng Athletics sub-youth, youth, junior and U23 championships.

The competition took place at the Germiston Stadium and saw several athletes shine in their respective track and field events.
One of those who did well was 19-year-old Cheswell Johnson who jumped a personal best of 7.13m in the long jump event. Another highlight of the day was the stellar performance of Pierre Vermaak who placed first in the 10 000m walk in a time of 53:19:34.
Vermaak is hailed as one of the most promising junior walkers in the province following his showing at the championships.
Other athletes who did well included Esmarie Hougaard, Katelynn-Fae Rothballer, Armoure le Roux and Herman Kritizinger who all placed within the top 10 in their respective track events.
