Despite the controversy surrounding his decision to give All Black player Beauden Barrett a yellow card in the Lions vs Hurricanes Super Rugby semi-final, South African referee Jaco Peyper has been chosen to ref the final between the Lions and the Crusaders.
In the week building up to the final, much has been said and will be said about Peyper’s ‘harsh’ decision, and a perceived need for neutral referees (refs not from one of the countries playing) overseeing playoffs and finals in Super Rugby.
Here are some of Twitter’s reactions:

To clarify, Jaco Peyper is a fine ref and prob Sanzaar's best. But perception is so important in a final. Shoulda gone to Angus Gardner.

Do you think Peyper’s decision to give Barrett a yellow card was harsh? What is your opinion about the idea of ‘neutral’ referees overseeing important matches?
Will the decision to make Peyper the referee in the final add to the Lions chances?
